Aluna
The teacher’s pet
Oh my sweet Aluna! Aluna was our first dog. When I (Sarah) was living in Costa Rica, Aluna came to me on a trek thru the Cloud Forest. In all of Central America, stray dogs are aplenty. With mad street smarts, many survive there on their own; however, many do not due to illnesses.
At the time I met Aluna, she was severely ill from a tick borne disease. With the help of many good samaritans & willing vets, we worked her way (tediously) back to health. When all was said & done & it was my time to return to the States, I simply could not leave my companion behind. Onto the plane Aluna came, then with me to Atlanta, Richmond, California, and back to Charlottesville again.
Aluna is the boss of everyone and alpha of the pack. She has spent most of her life free roaming and exploring on her own or off-leash on long hikes with me.
