Curly & Shimp

Curly
Most likely to run a Ponzi scheme

Curly came to us from Rebel Rescue SK, where John Smith joined us from. At the time, he was about 8 or so. When we were filing adoption papers for Curly, we noticed that he had a friend with him in just about every photo. Inquiring about this friend, we learned that they had been saved together from a pretty dire situation. The friend, Shimp, was very people-shy - somehow, even more so than Curly.

The owner of the rescue, Robin, took both of them into her home to start teaching them about being in a house, being around humans, being outside of a crate, having a place indoors, being fed, etc. Curly was so shy but curious about all of the changes, and in the short time he was away from Shimp, he didn’t do too much aside from crate chill. Once reunited, these 2 little mischief makers started wagging their tails, especially Curly who can do an impressive helicopter motion. They mostly kept their distance but were always peeking around the corner at Robin or pooping on her if she tried to groom them, etc.

Now that he has been with us for a year, Curly has become much braver. During storms, he will seek out my lap to lay on me. The first time he jumped on the couch, I cried a lot of tears. His latest & greatest move is when I am cooking, he will creep around the corner to join the pack waiting for scraps. I always make sure to give Curly some of whatever veggies I am making (he goes WILD for them). We are so happy to provide a home to these guys who ask so little but the difference made is so big.

Shimp
Most like a Studio Ghibli character

Shimp, the man behind Curly, always. We knew from the start there was no way we could take one and not the other. Curly was to be dog #6, and 7 seemed to be a bit ridiculous, but we knew it was going to happen. If you were looking to adopt a dog that could learn tricks, go to your parents house, go for a run, or learn their names, do not look here!

These guys just need a place to hang out peacefully and occasionally get into trouble (they can open any kind of crate so just don’t bother closing or locking any doors).

We love dogs like Shimp & Curly that are totally fine to just be, & with time/patience, will warm to their cushy life in their penthouse suite crate in the midst of a loving family!
